Molasses Syrup Drinks Molasses or treacle is a thick, syrupy derivative of the juice of the sugar cane plant or the processing of sugar beet. The quality of molasses depends on the maturity of the sugar cane or beet, the amount of sugar extracted, and the method of extraction. There are three major types of molasses: unsulphured, sulphured and blackstrap. There are also three major grades of molasses: first molasses, second molasses, and blackstrap molasses.

Black Stripe Recipe
Cinnamon
Dark Rum
Molasses
Water
Dissolve the molasses in a mug with some boiling water. Add the cinnamon, a lemon twist and the remaining water. Float rum on top and ignite. Let the flame burn for a few seconds then stir to extinguish it and sprinkle some nutmeg on top to garnish.

Water
Pour all of the ingredients into a mixing glass and stir well to dissolve the honey and molasses. Pour into an old-fashioned glass filled with crushed ice. Stir well.

Deep South Recipe
Cherry Syrup
Dark Rum
Pineapple Juice
Molasses
Mix pineapple juice and molasses well, either shake or blend, stirring won't work. Pour into glass and drop rum on top but do not stir in. Splash on cherry syrup and garnish with a pineapple wedge or pineapple chunks.
